WORDS OF WISDOM

A dream extended to thirty years is called a life. Thirty years of life condensed to a two-hour version is called a dream. A life and a dream are really just a dream and a dream within a dream.

This is what I had for lunch and dinner on this New Year’s Day. For the sake of protecting the environment, our health and respecting lives, please be vegetarian as much as you can.

Here, mind is clear like the spring water, spacious like the sky and gentle as the breeze. It’s a clear path from here to its very core. Let the journey of the mind begin.

Only when the horizon goes down can the sunrise be seen from the east. Only when discursive thoughts are reduced can it be possible to see the inner radiance of the mind.

We all hope to be healthy, but we keep on eating unhealthy food. We all hope to be happy, but we continue to hold on to unhappy things. It will be hard for us to be healthy and happy if we don’t move away from these old tendencies. On that note, I’d like to recommend once again The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD.

The thirty years that I spent at Larung Five-Science Buddhist Institute in Serthar was the best time of my life, a beautiful dream in retrospect. I’m forever grateful to my guru.

You may not believe in Buddhism or any religion at all, but you cannot deny the emotions and feelings once felt by those animals now being served on the dining table. “Don’t do unto others what you don’t want others to do unto you” should be put into practice starting from our dining tables first.
